    The region is the top tier of local government in New Zealand. There are 16 regions of New Zealand. Twelve are governed by an elected regional council, while four are governed by territorial authorities (the second tier of local government) which also perform the functions of a regional council and thus are known as unitary authorities. The Chatham Islands Council is similar to a unitary authority, but is authorised under its own enabling legislation.

    • Courses are available for academic, professional and vocational studies at universities, polytechnics and private training establishments.
    • Twenty five institutions in New Zealand are part of the polytechnic system and provide education and training in a broad range of industry and occupation based vocational studies. Many polytechnics offer undergraduate degree programs as well.
    • New Zealand has Eight universities offering degree programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in academic and professional studies.
    • All universities offer a broad range of subjects for degrees in commerce, science and the arts. Each university has also developed its own specialist subjects, such as engineering, computer studies, medicine and agriculture.
    • There are also a number of private tertiary institutes and private training providers.

    Admission Timings:

    INTAKE:
    The academic year extends from February to November with many programs having a mid year intake in July. The major holiday period is December to February. 
    Ranking
    There is no official ranking of Universities.
    Part time work during studies
    Students are allowed to work part time 20 hours per week and full time during holidays while studying the course.
    Work opportunities after studies
    After the completion of the studies, if student has studied a course which is level 7 or above then he/she will be eligible for 1 year of job search Visa. If the course is less then Level 7 then he/she has to study for minimum 2 years to obtain 1 year of job search Visa. Later when student gets permanent job offer (an offer that qualifies the visa requirement) in the related filed of study, he/she may apply for PR.

    Student prepares Visa file as per Embassy guideline:
    • TT Services collect visa applications on behalf of Immigration New Zealand, New Delhi Branch
    • Visa Officer accesses the application
    • Applications Approved in Principle (AIP):
      • Evidence of payment of course fees for 1 year
      • Any other requirement which needs to be fulfilled at that stage for the visa to be issued
      • Only, fee receipts
    • Interviews
    • Validity of Student Visa:
      • if the course duration in New Zealand is more than 1 year, the student visas will only be issued for 1st year of study/ duration for which the tuition fees is paid
    Visa processing time:
    • 7-14 days to issue a Visa for a positive profile applications
    • 2-3 months for other applications
    Total Visa Fees: Rs 9,000 /-
    Change in Fund Transfer Scheme (FTS) account opening process for New Zealand Visa.
    Effective from 1 October 2011.
    CHANGES
    The new changes in opening a FTS account include the following:
    1. The students will be given a FTS 'REFERENCE NUMBER' for their account number.
    2. As a student you will have to file this letter with the given reference number.
    3. When you receive Approval in Principal (AIP), you need to submit a copy of AIP along with the reference number.
    4. Your account will be opened and details will be sent to you only after a copy of your AIP is received by the bank.
    5. Once you receive the account detail, then you can ask for fund transfer from India to your new account.
    6. The bank will issue proof of funds letter to you once funds are received into the account.
    English Requirement
    IELTS &/or TOEFL are not mandatory requirements however its highly recommended for clear and timely processing of admission and visa application. Students cannot go to NZ to study an English course.
    Student must have required language capability from India before enrolling in a NZ institute.
    TOEFL is not acceptable by New Zealand High Commission. Please confirm acceptable test status at the time of making application.
